In the early 70s, things were very simple for DJ iMack. "We wanted to make extra money as DJs. My best friend and partner approached his father, George Pappas, Sr. who was the Maitre'D at Jimmy Weston's. George's father suggested we tag along with Peter Duchin's star Society DJ, Slim Hyatt. Slim was a tall, slender fellow originally from Panama. He is known in the history books as America's first Disco DJ. He worked in the legendary "Le Club" in downtown Manhattan. My friend George and I were trained by Slim Hyatt and began filling in for him under the management of Peter Duchin Orchestras.
We went from being novices to experienced, top society DJs in a very short period of time. That was back in 1972. We continued playing for the Asia Society, East Side Tennis Club, many weddings and events in the Ball Room at the Waldorf."
Well, those days are in the past. Now, there's a new generation of Disc Jockeys, playing the music for your after-parties and product launches. The constant theme consists of the best of the 70s music and today's music, which has elements of the 70s cuts we love. DJ iMack is one of the origional legendary 70s DJs still on the scene.
